Welcome back to the Castle on the Hill, one of our latest custom-built homes in Bend, Oregon. Last week we shared with you the impressive entry. Now, let’s dive deeper into this gorgeous house by Alway Homes by starting in the custom kitchen.

nano wall 5We’ll start by taking a left, into the kitchen. But notice: you are now standing OUTSIDE! Or are you INSIDE? The answer is, BOTH. See that floor rail? It’s where an accordion-style collapsing wall stands between you and the expansive view over the edge of the paver patio.

Pretty cool, huh?

Home Technology has come a long way. Now homeowners in the High Desert can enjoy outdoor/indoor living in the summer, and still have a buttoned-up and warm retreat in the cold winter months.

nano wallThe reclaimed barn wood floors are particularly distinctive in this home. Wide-planked, and left without a top varnish, the wood has retained all of its ancient character.

Now, let’s move on to the kitchen area.

The kitchen workspace is a study in function and art. As with any Alway Home, every area in this kitchen has been touched with an artists’ eye. From the hidden spice racks to the track lighting, much care and ingenuity went into the planning of this custom kitchen design.

This house is full of color, reflecting the owners’ themselves: warm and inviting! Many details in this home were provided by the clients—procured from their private art collection. For example, the stained glass artwork seen on the wall behind the kitchen island are two pieces that have been installed permanently to the wall and backlit.

Alway Homes strives to create spaces that truly reflect the personalities of our clients. Working together, we build homes that tell their very own stories.

Next time we’ll cover the master suite and bath!

Until then, thank you for stopping by. Call Aaron or Jess Alway for a consultation on your next building project.
